EELS Live!

On Wednesday night, Amy took me to see the EELS in Salt Lake as my 30th birthday present. We had a great time and enjoyed the show! Here's what I remember of the setlist along with my thoughts:
  • Daisies of the Galaxy [First song, on solo guitar]
  • I Like Birds [This normally acoustic song was played loud and fast]
  • Mr. E's Beautiful Blues
  • My Beloved Monster [Oldest Eels song played- from 1996's Beautiful Freak]
  • In My Younger Days
  • End Times [Second or third song, on solo guitar- I think I was the only person in the place that recognized it from the opening chords]
  • Paradise Blues
  • Gone Man
  • Dog Faced Boy
  • Souljacker, pt. 1 [This is not my favorite song, but for some reason it's the one song I had in my head going into the concert so it was cool to hear it live]
  • Jungle Telegraph [This was fantastic live! A real rocking treat!]
  • Prizefighter [Loud and fun]
  • That Look You Give That Guy [Great quieter song from 2009's Hombre Lobo]
  • In My Dreams [Another tender song]
  • Tremendous Dynamite [More loud and fun]
  • Fresh Blood
  • Spectacular Girl
  • What I Have to Offer [Second or third song, on solo guitar- I think I was the only person in the place that recognized it from the opening chords- from 2010's Tomorrow Morning]
  • Looking Up [This song has a gospel feel- hand claps and all on the album version- I tried to get the audience clapping but no one wanted to play along- another case of me being the only person in the place that recognized the song]
  • That's Not Her Way
  • I Like the Way This is Going
  • Summer in the City (Lovin' Spoonful cover)
  • "Knuckles" song
A great night out with my wonderful wife! And thanks to my parents for watching the kids while we were gone.

I'll introduce the EELS more in a later post.
